Applying HYDRANET to the Web: HYDRAWEB
- The first application of HYDRANET is HYDRAWEB, a system for push-based caching on the Web.
- When a Web Server needs help, its Web Replica Manager chooses a host server and installs and starts a replica.
- The replica maintains an active cache, which can be controlled by the Web Replica Manager on the Origin Host. The server is able to push data to caches or invalidate them. This significantly simplifies cache coherency.
- Whenever request cannot be satisfied by the replica, it is forwarded to the Origin Host.
- The current implementation understands HTTPv1.0.
