The Column View and the Space View for Authoring a Network Structure Yasuhiro Yamamoto (1,2) Kumiyo Nakakoji (2,1) Atsushi Aoki (3) 1) PRESTO, JST 2) RCAST, University of Tokyo 3) SRA-KTL Inc. The ART-SHTA (Sculptural HyperText Authoring) system integrates the three hypertext techniques for authoring a network of textual nodes: sculptural hypertext, spatial hypertext, and column-based browsing. The system provides the three-column view for focusing on one node while specifying links to and from the focused node by using the right and left-side columns that list the rest of the nodes. The space view is provided to overview all the existing nodes and the links among them while expressing emerging relationships among the nodes by freely positioning them in the space. We argue that the interaction design of the system makes it possible to integrate the two views to serve for the single authoring task.
