CSCE 481: Seminar

Spring 2017

Resume Assignment

Deadline

Due: Monday, January 23, 11:59 PM
Grader: Karl Ott

Description

You are to put together an up-to-date version of your resume. Your resume should have one of two forms, depending on your situation:

  • If you do not have a job you are committed to after graduation (this will be almost everyone), your resume should reflect your current situation and be suitable for use at the SEC career fair. It should be written as if you are looking for a job or internship.
  • If you already have a job you are committed to after graduation (there will only be a few of you in this category), put together a resume oriented to your current situation but as if you were looking for a job (i.e. assume you did not have a job you were committed to).
  • If you are already in your final job, assume you were quitting at the time of graduation and structure your resume as if you looking for a fresh opportunity. You may put a single line at the top of the resume indicating that this is false but is being prepared for a class.

Note that your resume should be one page in length, and should follow standard resume formatting. You should design your resume using the principles discussed in class.

You will receive feedback on the resume, and will be able to revise it following the feedback. However, there will not be sufficient time to provide this feedback cycle before the Career Fair. Those who would like early feedback on their resume (in order to revise it for the career fair) should meet with the instructor or a TA before the deadline, and/or consider using the Career Center resume service.
