Project Description:

The objective of this project is to develop a low-cost computer system for notifying caffeine addicts in the CS department that a new coffee pot is being brewed, as well as monitor coffee consumption on-line. The system, which will be installed on the coffee machine in the CS lobby, will broadcast an email message to subscribed users, display on-line statistics of coffee consumption throughout the day, and provide snapshots of the users' mugs.

Deliverables:

  1. Embedded system with sensor interfacing and communications capabilities
  2. Web server with web-cam and on-line statistics gathering
  3. Email server with user notification and subscribe/unsubscribe services
  4. Project documentation and live demonstration, as described in the course syllabus
