Prerequisite Problem Set
The course has a pre-requisite of a prior programming course. To help clarify what we expect you to already be able to do, we created this problem set. You can use this to assess how prepared you are for this class. It is not an indicator of eventual success or failure. However, if you can't do the questions, you will need to spend a lot of time catching up in addition to doing class content.

zyBook
Required online textbook.
- Class zyBooks Code: TAMUCSCE121RitcheySpring2019
- First chapter is free! So all content for first assignment due on Tuesday, January 22 are available for free. So there's no excuse for not starting immediately.
- Aim to finish the Participation Activities for sections 1.1 — 1.38 before class on Friday, February 1.
- Much of chapters 1 — 4 cover concepts you should already know.
- You are expected to know the concepts contained in all "optional" sections for exams and use in the class.
- If you are confident in these sections you may cover them lightly.
- If you feel you don't know these concepts, you can read and do the participation activities to help you review and catch up.
- zyBook due dates are hard deadlines. However, you only need a final average of 85% for full credit. You can think of it as getting the minimum of 100% or your average plus 15%.

- Most questions should be posted to the entire class.
- That way we don't have to answer the same question multiple times.
- Frequently another student already knows the answer.
- If something is grade related or involves code that you wrote for homework, then you can post it to all instructors. That way any TA or the instructor can answer. If you make it private only to one instructor you frequently just delay getting a response.
- We will also make most announcements on Piazza, so if you are not connected you might miss vital course information.
