Class Times: Wednesdays, 2:30pm to 5:15pm and Friday, May 11 2012, 1:30pm to 4:00pm in SB 4.01.20

Prerequisites:

• CS 5513: Computer Architecture
• CS 5523: Operating Systems

Course Description:

Areas of study include advanced architectures, including massively parallel and distributed systems. Issues of communication, fault tolerance, and performance are addressed.

Course Requirements:

• Presentations (50%). Students will make several presentations during the course of the semester. The presentations will be evaluated for content as well as form.
• Class Participation (25%). Students are expected to contribute enthusiastically to the class discussion. Attendance is mandatory.
• Reviews (25%). Students will give reviews of technical papers before they are presented in class. These reviews will be evaluated for content, thoughtfulness, and accurracy. Reviews should be approximately 500 words.

Textbook: There is no assigned textbook.

Exams: There are no scheduled examinations.
