Research Topics

We are interested in solving grand challenge problems in the broad area of energy and health through the use of micro/nano systems technology and multidisciplinary team effort.

Our current research themes are: accelerating the development of therapeutics and vaccines against emerging infectious diseases through microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip technologies, developing methods to detect and identify pathogenic microorganisms, developing and utilizing microorganisms as biorefinery for bioproduction through combination of synthetic biology and high-throughput microfluidics, developing microphysiological systems (i.e., organ-on-a-chip, tissue chip) especially for preterm birth and neurobiology applications, and developing broad ranges of high-throughput single-cell assay microfluidic platforms.
